What Is a Certified Translation?
In the United Kingdom, a certified translation is a translation accompanied by a signed statement from the translator confirming it is a true and accurate translation of the original document. This statement includes the translator's full name, qualifications, contact details, signature, and date.
This is the standard set out by GOV.UK and is accepted by UKVI / Home Office, schools, universities, employers, the NHS, DVLA, and most UK institutions.
Certified translation vs. sworn translation
The UK does not have a "sworn translator" (tłumacz przysięgły) system like Poland. In Poland, a sworn translator is registered with the Ministry of Justice and their translations carry an official seal. UK institutions do not require this — they accept certified translations as described above.
If you need a document for a Polish court, ZUS, or a Polish government office, you may need a sworn translation from a translator registered in Poland. Our certified translations are intended primarily for use in the United Kingdom.
